The wetland ecosystem degradation and the decrease of ecosystem function have been greatly affected by human activities, especially environmental pollution. Therefore, wetland ecological restoration and ecological function development have become active fields in the whole world. However, the unclear understanding of wetland ecological process and function mechanism leads to the limit of the wetland restoration and function development.
Main Research Findings
1. Systematically investigate the degradation process and driving mechanism of marsh wetland, and establish the index system, methods and standards of wetland degradation assessment;
2. Build the model for the relationship between ecological hydrological processes of marsh wetland and the diversity of waterfowl, and propose an ecological water supply scheme based on waterfowl habitat restoration;
3. Conduct an ecological restoration technical system of damaged wetland based on the driving mechanism of wetland degradation;
4. Systematically investigate the mechanism of wetland function, and develop a combined artificial wetland technology system based on the water pollution restoration. These research achievements provide an important scientific and technological support for ecological restoration of degraded wetland and ecological management of polluted water.
In recent years, the group has undertaken more than 20 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects and has published more than 50 papers on journals such as Ecology, Journal of Ecology, Ecological Engineering, etc.
