Municipal Wastewater Regeneration and Storage Group

The group focuses on current national needs and targeting international forefront issues. In order to achieve the green and efficient municipal wastewater regeneration and storage, with the city's two-level effluent as the source of water, the group is centered on the main research area: technical improvement and process optimization of sewage plant, two-stage effluent target regeneration treatment technology, storage-reuse engineering optimization design, operation and dispatch, and regulation principle and risk management mechanism of recycling water storage. Based on the regulation of urban wastewater regeneration and storage utilization process and water quality safety, the group is characterized by the physical, chemical and biological multi-interface process under the solid-liquid-gas multiphase system covariance-feed mechanism and its environmental effects. In order to reveal the mechanism of material transformation and energy conversion of wastewater recycling under the background of low concentration-broad spectrum material, the basic theory and key principles for the development of wastewater reclamation and storage are developed. Innovation and breakthrough methods of understanding and quantification of water quality risk evolution are evaluated by multicomponent-multiphase-multiinterface-multiscale in this process. Finally, the group is devoted to establishing the basic theory and technical method system of urban wastewater recycling system, which is suitable for the characteristics of social economy and natural environment in typical areas of China.

In the past three years, the group has undertaken 1 project of the National Natural Science Foundation, 5 General Projects, 5 Youth Projects, and 5 other provincial and ministerial level projects. The group has published more than 30 papers in Journal of Hazardous Materials, Science of the Total Environment, Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces.
