2. Environmental Biology

3. Environmental Planning and Disaster Risk Management

Schooling System and Credit System

The basic schooling system is three years, and the maximum length of schooling is five years (including suspension).

Implement credit system, total credit no less than 32 credits. There are no less than 9 credits in the basic courses, no less than 8 credits for major courses, and no less than 8 credits for development courses.

Students are allowed to graduate in advance, but the minimum length of schooling should not be less than 2.5 years. The conditions are as follows:

Publish 2 SCI papers or 1 SCI paper with influence factor higher than discipline average influence factor during undergraduate period.

Teaching Mode

1. In the course of postgraduate training, the courses should be arranged reasonably, such as course study, paper work and practice activities.

1.1 The course study focuses on the students' self-learning ability, research ability and practical ability. Master students can arrange the course study time according to study plan, and complete the required credits before applying for the thesis reply.

1.2 The thesis work link focuses on the systematic and comprehensive research and training of master students, to train master students to use their knowledge to identify problems, analyze problems and solve problems. Get into the research status of the paper as soon as possible by developing the thesis research plan.

1.3 The education session focuses on cultivating students' attitude and ability in practice, practice, learning and improving in practice. Take a variety of practice education form and practice education through the whole process of master's training.

2. Adopt the training method combining the mentor personal guidance and collective cultivation. While giving full play to the subjective initiative of the mentor, develop the collective wisdom, and broaden the academic field of master's degree; Give full play to the leading role of the mentor in graduate training, while striving to embody the concept of "respecting education", guiding and promoting the independent and personalized development of graduate students.

Encourage all disciplines to develop innovative ways according to their specialty.

3. Must be made by the first author during the period of studying in domestic and international academic journals (core journals) dissertation content related papers published at least one (published or formal offer), can apply for degree. For specific requirements, see the Graduate Management Rules of Northeast Normal University.

2. Individual Education Plan

To give full play to the role of individual learning and research programs in guiding and promoting the independent learning and research of master students. Masters under the guidance of the mentor, develop a personal study and research plan. Personal study and research programme are completed within three months of enrolment.

3. Teaching methods and assessment methods

The teaching method combining teaching and research is carried out, to give full play to the role of research in promoting the students' autonomy and research.

Course study must by means of the examination. If the grade is qualified, students can get the credit.

Subject basic courses usually take class closed/open book method for final examination; Subject basic courses, major courses, and professional direction courses take reading reports, experiment reports, investigation reports, papers and other ways to carry out the process assessment, and take the final exam by writing course paper.

Degree Thesis

The thesis focuses on guiding students to use scientific methods to solve practical problems, including literature review, opening report, progress report of papers and review and reply of papers.

1. Thesis proposal and check

The thesis proposal is usually conducted at the beginning of the second semester (the third term) (late October to early November). Students should take the initiative to send the report to their respective mentor for final draft, 1-2 weeks before the thesis proposal or earlier.

The thesis proposal calls for the unity of the college as the unit. All graduate students in the department and mentors with master degree must attend throughout.

The basic requirements of thethesis proposal comply with the school regulations, and the report time is not more than 15 minutes. The master's mentor score, take the average score and decide whether the student should proposal. For graduate students who are not eligible for the report, they are required to revise and reopen the thesis within a prescribed time (about mid-December). For master's degree preparation, please refer to the Graduate Management Rules of the School of Environment of Northeast Normal University about the reference scoring criteria for the report of the thesis proposal.

2. In-process inspection

The in-process inspection will be conducted at the end of next semester, the final semester of the fourth semester. The college should conduct the examination and supervision of the graduate student's project with the teacher group (not less than 3 persons).

Based on the project report and presentation of the project through PPT, the report time is not more than 10 minutes. Main contents include: Summary of research content; The content, method and proportion of completion; Achievements and innovations; Problems and programme to be solved; Next plan and arrangement.

The judges are graded and the average score is one of the bases for evaluation. The reference scoring criteria for the mid-term review refer to the Graduate Management Rules of School of Environment of Northeast Normal University.

3. Thesis Defenses

The dissertation adopts blind review method outside campus, and the external audit complies with the relevant regulations of the school. Master degree students defense in the third semester, according to the school regulations, to be a unit. Master candidates should take the tutorial group (no less than 3) to practice before the official defense. A formal defense application can be submitted to the college after the practice defense. The college degree evaluation sub-committee and the committee of professors conduct spot checks and supervision. The dissertation defense and degree application work in accordance with the application of the Thesis Defense and Degree Application of Northeast Normal University [2014] No. 73.

Completing the dissertation work and passing the thesis defense, student must gets over 6 credits.

Literature Review

A first-year graduate student need to read more than 30 high level for project references, in which more than half of foreign literature, and write the corresponding literature review report, turned over to the school which organize college teachers to review. At the same time, at least, a first-year graduate student should make an open translation report in public, or attend the "classical literature report" of the school organization. Reward outstanding students, and as a basis for graduate evaluation.

The outline of the a first-year graduate student literature review report is as follows:

Research background and significance (importance, scientific value, application prospect); Research status at home and abroad (basic concepts and principles, review of research status, summary of literature on problems and solutions); References (note the number of texts, the proportion of Chinese and English, the proportion of publications published in the last three years, and the proportion of SCI included).

The classic literature for graduate students is as follows:

1. Rene P. Schwarzenbach et al., Environmental Organic Chemistry,A John Wiley&Sons, Inc., Publication, 2003.

2. Graham, John D. and Jennifer Kassalow Hartwell, The Greening of Industry: A Risk Management Approach. Havard University Press, 1997.

Practical Activity

Emphasize the role of education in postgraduate training. According to the characteristics of subject specialty and talent training type, it is reasonable to arrange the education activity in practice, and try to practice education through all kinds of education activities. During the notice of extracurricular practice, it is important to pay special attention to the education function of classroom teaching practice. In the classroom teaching, more through practical guide students to learn to deal with complex problems, improve the ability of solving practical problems.

1. Academic reporting system

Establish a regular academic reporting system for graduate students and organization of "BBS" by the college. Postgraduate students must make a public academic report within the academic institution within the length of their schooling, and school urge the graduate students to report the research progress in time. Take whether make academic reports as one of the conditions for a graduate qualification review. Reward outstanding students, and serve as the basis for graduate evaluation.

2. Academic exchange

Encourage graduate students to participate actively in academic conferences at home and abroad and make posters or conference reports. In principle, graduate students should attend an academic conference at home and abroad. The expenses of the rapporteur in the meeting shall be paid by the college.

At the same time, the college regularly invites prominent experts from home and abroad to exchange and cooperate with each other, so as to jointly train students, expand the academic field of students and improve the research level.

This training program has been implemented since master's degree in 2017.
